Located on the second floor of the historic 115-year-old Yrisarri Building in downtown Albuquerque, The Mothership Alumni (TMA) is an alternative contemporary art gallery committed to showcasing a diverse roster of innovative artists. Specializing in paintings, photography, and illustration, TMA is dedicated to creating memorable experiences that connect artists with audiences and build lasting emotional connections. What began as a series of pop-up shows in 2016 evolved into a full gallery takeover by 2020. Today, as the longest-standing art gallery in downtown Albuquerque — and proudly Black-owned — TMA represents a broad spectrum of contemporary artists, offering marketing and sales support while producing engaging exhibitions, art events, and merchandise that amplifies their creative work.
Beyond exhibitions, TMA plays a key role in Albuquerque’s creative ecosystem. We rent out 14 spacious art studios to local artists, host monthly events, and offer educational workshops to inspire the next generation. Our in-house print shop produces archival prints, custom stickers, screen-printed tees, and a curated gift shop, further expanding artist visibility. Through digital and real-world experiences, we foster immersive interactions between the public and the arts. By blending e-commerce, retail, manufacturing, and services, TMA provides a full-circle support system that uplifts artists and strengthens community connections — locally and beyond.
